BALOCH UNITY

â?~Right to self-determination must for Balochistan settlementâ?T

24.12.2003

WASHINGTON: The single inviolable premise upon which any solution must be based is the right to self-determination for the people of Balochistan.

Baloch unity reiterates with equal resolve our call to stop the killing and looting in Balochistan. "The Baloch unity remains firmly committed to its position regarding the ground realities and the political, social, and economic future of Balochistan.

Iran and Pakistan, they said, were signatories to the UN resolutions that establish the fundamental right to self-determination through a fair and impartial plebiscite.

"If the Baloch people verifiably agree to some different mechanism through which their right to self-determination can and will be exercised, the Baloch unity would stand firmly in support of such a process.

What is paramount is that the people of Balochistan must be the ultimate determinants of their own destiny. For over half a century, they have suffered at the hands of those who failed to honour the UN resolutions intended to bring and end to this tragedy," Baloch unity said.

Baloch unity said: "Iran and Pakistan has stationed a huge army of occupation in Balochistan, and brutal violations of human rights by this army continue to this day despite these countries protestations to the contrary.

The Baloch unity reiterates its challenge to the Pakistani & Iranian governments to allow internationally recognized human rights organisations unrestricted access to all areas within western and eastern parts of Balochistan to have first hand assessments of the occupied Balochistan where recently Iranian armed police man killed many innocent Baloch in cold blood and Baloch unity called upon UN and international investigation of these killings.

While the ceasefire since 1980s partially continues but freedom fighter are very active in most parts of occupied Balochistan all this after constant and brutal so called army operations in held Balochistan, we are nevertheless unyielding in our continued call for an end to the killing, torture, and oppression of innocent Baloch peoples that continue in those areas that are out of sight of the rest of the world."

Baloch unity favours neither Pakistan nor Iran with regard to an ultimate outcome in Balochistan.

From its inception, the Baloch unity has stated that its sole and abiding interest is the exercise of the right to self-determination for the people of Balochistan.

We have consistently decried the commission of atrocities by the Iranians and Pakistani armies and paramilitaries, as injustice ultimately begets anger, and oppression breeds hatred.

Neither injustice or oppression, nor their consequential emotions, are constructive to bringing peace to South Asia or freedom to Balochistan.

The Baloch unity said: "We exhort the government of Iran and Pakistan to stop the killing in Balochistan, to establish meaningful dialogue with Baloch people, and then to commit to specific and meaningful actions, within a defined timeframe, to cease, without obfuscation or political chicanery, obstruction of the Baloch nation right to self-determination.

Those who would be leaders in South Asia must reject the failed and dangerous politics of the past and act in a manner consistent with the highest ideals of freedom and justice.

Any other course of action will only serve to underscore the decades of intellectual and political dishonesty that have long characterised the politics of this brutal conflict."

Baloch unity was prime concern is the freedom of movement in both parts of Balochistan and called on both governments to stop selling heroinâ?Ts and drugs to Baloch youth through their agents and encouraging them to use these bad things and then hang them as drug trafficking, Baloch unity called on the Human rights organisations and USA , a resolution that called for the US Congress to hold hearings into the issues attendant to the Baloch conflict, and for the parties to the conflict to abide by the UN Charter on Human Rights.

Baloch unity vowed to tell truth to world community and the American people about the conflict in Balochistan and its relevance to world peace and security.

The Baloch unity organisation members in USA have planed meetings with members of the US House and Senate, and government and religious leaders at all levels. Several Congressmen have committed to hold hearings on Baloch question in near future.
