Natural Gas & Balochistan

04.07.2005

By:Anwar Noor Baloch,

Gas, as known is one of our most important resources. We burn it to provide heat and to produce energy to run machinery. The chemical industry uses the chemicals in gas to make detergents, drugs, plastics, and many other products. Additionally, Gas has many uses as fuel. Millions of people use it to heat their homes, cook meals, burn garbage, heat water, dry laundry and cool the air. It has become difficult to run restaurants, hospitals, schools, industries, and many other institutions and businesses without having Gas facility.

How natural Gas was formed? Most scientists believe that natural Gas was formed millions of years ago, when water covered much more of the earth’s surface than it does today.

Gas was discovered in 1952 in Sui - Balochistan. It also said that, this Gas is the main Pakistan’s energy supplier without it Pakistan cannot survive economically. Pakistan is earning billions of rupees from the natural Gas per day despite the competition that she faces from other countries such as India, GCC, Russia and some other countries. Does Pakistan have any other alternative economic solution if it doesn’t have Natural Gas? How it satisfies the national need if no longer natural Gas in the country? How can be the economic situation in Pakistan by 2010? Can someone predict? What economists are saying about Pakistan’s future? Will the economic in the country be healthy or it get worse by 2010?

The strength of any country is it’s economy and Pakistan’s economy is Balochistan, which indicates that without Balochistan Pakistan can’t exist, neither economically nor geographically. If it’s true and realized by Pakistan itself then why still Baloch nation is ignored, deprived even after occupying the land in 1948. Does not it mean that Pakistan is only interested in Balochistan and not the Baloch people? Does not it mean that Pakistan wants Baloch not to be called Baloch any more? Shall we still call Pakistan democratic and Islamic country?

Why should not the sincere and feeler Baloch be anxious over the Pakistani Govt? Why should they be happy with the Paki Govt? Why most of them want to be separate from Pakistan? Have ever Pakistan noticed/thought about it?

Someone gets really irritated especially in the case of Baloch, when they see their resources are being looted openly and they are unable to raise the voice. From the same Gas the Punjab province is enjoying and getting luxury life and we the Baloch nation are seeking wood to heat our homes and cook meals.
