Many of Iranian political parties are screaming bloody murder about ’Unknown Iran, Another Case for Federalism’, which is a discussion panel arranged by American Enterprise Institute on October 26, 2005. What is the reason behind the Iranian political party’s nervousness about this discussion while this is only a discussion to expand the understanding of Iranian demographic, society, politics and culture? What is so wrong with discussing Iran’s problem, Iran’s double oppression of the minorities, and why these political parties are so adamant about not allowing the world to know about Iranian past and present rulers oppression of Baloch, Kurds, Turkmen’s, Azerbaijan Turks, Band Saheli. Why these Iranian parties understanding of discussion is so narrow and out dated while all of them claim to respect human rights; fight for democracy and equal rights for all Iranian but they can not stand a discussion. These Iranian parties understanding of democracy is so narrow and mingled with their backwardness thoughts that make me believe that none of them are true in their words. They are not to be trusted to handle human rights, equal rights, and equal opportunity for all Iranian.
Every objection by Baloch, Kurd, Turkmen, and Azeri is misconstrued blindly and unjustly as separatist action. The fact is that these Iranian parties like the monopoly of Persian speaking Iranian to control every aspects of minorities’ life without exception. How many times parties like Hezbe Mellate Iran and Sazmanhai Jebhe Melli Iran-Boronmarz have spoken of atrocities against Baloch and Kurds, how many time they have tried to even discuss the right of minorities in Iran, to my knowledge they have never even mentioned the Baloch and Kurd problems in their publications, as if Baloch, Kurd, Turkmen never exist. Although the definition of democracy is the rule of majority but in practice the democracy is about the power, and democracy is the power, the democracy in practice is the money as well, it’s a power that controls the citizens and acquires their wealth that is why Iranian parties such as Hezbe Mellate Iran and other wants democracy.
Since the democracy and the power go hand in hand therefore this power must be shared between the citizens of Iran and it must be shared equally to yield proper results that create diversified communities and good citizen to protect the Iranian territories. We Baloch expand the definition of democracy and go far beyond Iranian defined democracy, we want a constitutional democracy in better words a federal democratic in constitutional republic which in the constitution guarantees and protect the political and social rights regardless of race, religion, color of skin and gender of all Iranian.
Iranian politicians and philosophers brought the knowledge of democracy to Iran during and after the constitutional revolution from the western countries but the knowledge about democracy that they spread in Iran was nothing more then bits and pieces of democracy and political expansion which made Iranian more distant from democracy. They have spread a confusing and tampered definition of democracy to Iranian. The definition of democracy that Iranian politician and philosophers have offered to Iranian has always been of Europe’s 1800 A.D and always tried to reconcile the hostility between a predator beast and prey to make the prey tame more accessible to the predator.
Take for instance the democracy that they want is the majority rule, while this school of thought is obsolete they still want to impose it on Iranian which means with this kind of democracy Baloch, Kurd, Arab, Turkmen, Azeri would have no right. While the world has moved on to constitutional democracy they still beat the democracy drums to fool Baloch, Kurds, and Turkmen into submission. The constitutional democracy is the democracy that would protect the right of Minority as well as majority. The propaganda that Iranian oppositions have launched against this discussion panel is misleading and false since this discussion is not dealing with American invasion of neither Iran nor does it discusses the American plans for invading Iran and separating Kurdistan, Balochistan, Azarbaijan and Turkmen Sahra as Hezbe Mellate Iran and other claims.
The thought of federalism makes Iranian political parties terrified because of their misunderstanding of federalism and their lack of knowledge about federalism. Federalism is not a dividing factor on the contrary federalism is a uniting factor to create a stronger Iran. When the nations are small and can not defend themselves against foreign invasion they form a federal government to protect themselves.
I encourage all Baloch, Kurd, Turkmen, Arab, Saheli in Iran to participate in this discussion to show the Iranian that they don’t fall victim to Hzebe Mellate Iran, Sazmanhai Jebeh Melli Iran-Boronmarz and other with their sacare tactics of being separatist. Don’t allow this parties to scare from discussing your rights to any organization and government. These Iranian Parties are denying us the right of free speech and expression even abroad and in the best of western democracies.
