QUETTA: At least eight people, including six children, suffering from gastroenteritis and other waterborne diseases have lost their lives during two days in Dera Murad Jamali while hundreds of affectees were being treated in hospitals and field hospitals by the Army Medical Corps.
According to sources, the epidemics broke out in Dera Murad Jamali and adjoining areas where a large number of affected people had taken shelter. More than 1.4 million people had been dislodged due to the floods and had no access to clean water, food and medical facilities. “Three to four patients, including women and children, are dieing on a daily basis,” sources at a hospital told this scribe. He said that the flood affectees had been suffering from gastroenteritis and other waterborne diseases. According to sources, 85 people had lost their lives in Dera Murad Jamali since floods hit the area.
