QUETTA: Four people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion in Sobatpur town of Jaffarabad on Thursday.
An explosive device attached to a bicycle parked near a small restaurant went off when a pick-up arrived there.
Jaffarabad’s District Police Officer Syed Fareed Ali Shah told Dawn that the device contained about 2kg of explosives. Three people died on the spot and the fourth in a hospital.
Three of them were identified as Pervez, Irshad and Sawali.
Most of the people who suffered injuries were inside the restaurant. A woman and two girls were among the inured. They were passing by the area.
The injured were taken to civil hospital in Dera Allahyar and 10 of them who had suffered serious injuries were taken to a hospital in Larkana.
The pick-up was completely destroyed. The restaurant and some nearby shops were partially damaged.
According to sources, tribesmen supporting Nawab Aali Bugti who were in the pick-up were the target of the blast. Police have registered a case.
It was the third blast in Jaffarabad and Panjgur districts in four days.

Two killed, 20 injured in Jaffarabad blast
QUETTA: Two people were killed and another 20 injured when a bomb went off in Jaffarabad district of Balochistan on Thursday.
District Police Officer Syed Farid Ali Shah said the bomb had been attached to a motorcycle parked by the roadside in Sohabatpur area of Jaffarabad.
The deceased were identified as Sawali Khan Brohvi and Pervez Ahmed.
The injured were moved to hospitals in Jacobabad and Dera Allah Yar for treatment, where the condition of three of the injured was reported to be critical.
The DPO said the people behind an attack on him and his convoy earlier this week were responsible for Thursday’s bomb blast as well.
The Baloch Republican Army had claimed responsibility for the attack on the DPO’s convoy.
Residents of the area later staged a rally against the police for failing to improve the law and order situation in the area and demanded the deployment of the Frontier Corps in the area.
