Wednesday, February 11, 2009 ISLAMABAD: Minister for Health Mir Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani said on Tuesday that the government was making efforts to provide basic health facilities to people of the far-flung areas.
The pro-poor health policy focusing on provision of primary healthcare services to the masses, especially the under-served, has been formulated. Talking to a TV channel, he said the government was also working on a proposal to introduce a health insurance scheme for the poor.
About the Balochistan situation, he said President Asif Ali Zardari has been saying from the beginning that the Baloch people should get the ownership of Balochistan’s resources. “We need time to correct each and every thing. The leaders from Balochistan now trust the Presidency and say there is a person in the Presidency who will do something for Balochistan”, he added.
To a question, he said the PPP government has mandate of people and the Task Force on Employment was disbanded to root out corruption and nepotism in appointments as well as to ensure merit and good governance across the board. “The previous government arrested political workers and sent them to unknown places but our government released all the political prisoners,” he added.
