ISLAMABAD: A plan has been devised to enhance per annum mineral royalty of the province to over Rs 750 million, Director Mines and Minerals department Government of Balochistan Dr Muhammad Saeed Baloch said Thursday.
Talking to PTV news he said the royalty money from minerals was persistently on the raise due to effective measures. A couple of years ago the royalty of province from minerals was only Rs 120 million and this year it was Rs 600 million.
He said every possible measures is being taken to explore minerals from the province as according to an authentic survey 305 minerals are present in the Balochistan out of a total of 315 minerals.
Three more skill development institutions would be set up in Naushki, Chaghi and Quetta to enhance skill of the labour, he said.
Two marble cities are working excellently in Hub and Loralai. The initial spade work has already been finalised to establish another marble city in Khuzdar, he concluded.
Seminar held to mark International Anti Corruption Day: Balochistan National Accountability Bureau (NAB) held a seminar to mark World Anti-Corruption Day in collaboration with Transparency International in a local hotel Thursday. The seminar titled Fight Together against Anti-Corruption was widely attended by the people from different walks of life. Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, former Senator Roshan Khursheed Barocha highlighted the hazards of corruption for the society and said only a corruption free society can guarantee citizens a peaceful and prosperous life.
She urged the participants particularly the students to play their role in combating corruption in the society.
Eid holidays from 8th to 10th in Balochistan: The Balochistan government has announced that all public offices would remain closed from December 8 to 10 (Monday to Wednesday) on account of Eidul Azha, a press release of the provincial services and general administration department S&GAD issued Thursday said.

Steps on to eliminate backwardness: Kasi
QUETTA: Pakistan People's Party Balochistan Vice President Malik Abdul Rauf Kasi has said the PPP-led government is taking concrete measures for elimination of backwardness, unemployment and uncertainty from the society.
In a statement issued here Thursday, he held the previous government's flawed policies responsible for poor law and order, poverty and unemployment across the country and said his party was committed to resolve all such crises. He said although the damage caused to national economy and peace during the last eight years was enormous and hard to be repaired yet the present government was committed to bring the country out of current chronics with help of its friends as early as possible. He appreciated Benazir Income Support programme and said it would compensate the poor and needy people to a considerable extent.
