Balochistan’s Govt orders PPL, SSGCL told to reinstate employees

03.07.2008

QUETTA, July 2: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani on Wednesday directed the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited to reinstate their sacked engineers and employees in accordance with a resolution adopted by the assembly.

The speaker also asked officials of the PPL and SSGCL to inform him about the matter within 10 days.

The Balochistan Assembly had adopted a resolution, demanding that the PPL and the SSGCL should reinstate the 10 engineers and 53 other employees sacked by them.

Loadshedding

The Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) has announced 14 hours of loadshedding in rural areas, citing serious power shortage because of closure of a private power plant and blowing up of power pylon near Quetta.

Qesco spokesman Jibrail Khan said on Wednesday that a unit of the power plant of the Habibullah Coastal Company had been closed because of a technical fault while some people had blown up a power pylon of the 132 KV Quetta-Mastung transmission line. He said the incidents had caused a serious power shortage, affecting supply to Quetta and rural areas.

“Qesco has increased loadshedding from 12 to 14 hours in rural areas and eight hours in the district headquarters, including Quetta.”

Mr Jibrail said that the step had been taken to ensure maximum power supply to the agriculture sector.
