ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government is seeking the early repatriation of its nationals including Hayerbiar and Zamran Marri – accused of involvement in anti-state activities and providing financial support to various terrorist networks in Balochistan – from the United Kingdom (UK) to face trial in Pakistan, sources said on Sunday.
The sources told Daily Times that Pakistan has made a fresh appeal in this regard to UK authorities through the Foreign Office. The issue of the early repatriation of Pakistani nationals Hayerbiar Marri, Zamran Marri and others would now be taken up during the meeting of the Pak-UK Joint Judicial Co-operation Working Group scheduled to be held from July 2 in London.
A nine-member delegation headed by Ministry of Interior Additional Secretary Zafeer Abbasi will in the meeting discuss the issue of repatriation of people wanted in Pakistan on different charges besides other judicial affairs.
Other members of the delegation include Supreme Court Registrar Raja Lehrasab Khan, Ministry of Interior (MoI) JS (Law) Muneera Abbasi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General (DG) Europe Muhammad Nafees Zakria, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Legal Adviser Sher Bahadur Khan, Federal Investigation Agency Additional DG (Immigration) Mirza Muhammad Yaseen, JS Law, Justice and HR Arshad Mahmood Tabassum, MoI Deputy Secretary (Law) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi and National Accountability Bureau Acting Director Madina Khan.
Zamran Marri is wanted by the Balochistan Crime Investigation Department SSP on charges of murder, attempted murder and criminal conspiracy.
The sources added that the SSP had requested for the issuance of a red notice against the accused, and the Secretariat General of Interpol in France consequently issued a red notice against Zamran Marri in 2006.
