QUETTA: The only opposition member in the Balochistan Assembly and former federal minister Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind hurled criticism at the Balochistan government's budget for 2008-09 and termed it disappointing and a piece of verbal acrobatics.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, he said the government had granted Rs 3 billion only to the provincial government, which was peanuts and made a mockery of the delegation that visited Islamabad.
He fulminated against the budget, saying that it gave protection and incentives to the white-collar class instead of the poor and the working-class of the province. He said that the government had not announced any new mega projects in the budget, and on the contrary it had shown the continuation of the projects launched by the previous government as its own projects which was deplorable.
He lashed out at the Balochistan cabinet, saying it was formed at a time when the government itself was making a big hue and cry over the financial crisis. Meanwhile, Baloch leaders, who boycotted the elections, including National Party leader Dr Hai Baloch, Secretary General BNP-M Habib Jalib and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Maulana Hashmi termed the budget anti-poor and anti-people.
