QUETTA: The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on Tuesday claimed responsibility for killing two high-ranking intelligence agency officials in a drive-by shooting in Khuzdar district on Monday. The banned Baloch separatist group said it had also killed policeman Mubarak Ali in Mustang district.
The two Military Intelligence (MI) officials were on their way home from their office when they were sprayed with bullets in a bazaar by attackers on a motorbike, Reuters reported.
The two slain intelligence agency personnel have been identified as Mohammad Yaqoob of Noshera Feroz and Abdul Hameed of Mianwali.
Beebarg Baloch, spokesman for the Baloch Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for the attack. Mr Baloch said the BLA had also attacked a police mobile team near Mastung. An office of the Military Intelligence was attacked in Dera Bugti three days ago.
Occupier’s reaction to killings: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has taken a serious note of the target killing of two security officials in Khuzdar. He has asked the Balochistan inspector general of police to ensure the arrest of the culprits within three days, failing which the relevant station house officer should be suspended and action might also be initiated against the superintendent of police and his deputy. He has also directed that a joint investigation team would be formed to probe the incident and submit a report within 72 hours.
Innocent Baloch arrested: Later on Tuesday, Police arrested 50 innocent poor Baloch laborers students, and political workers from different Baloch parties and organisations in connection with the killings, police official Qadir told APP on the telephone. The police picked up the suspects from various parts of the district, including from educational institutions’ hostels, APP reported. According to the reports police had heavy hand crackdown on every Baloch in street, people arrested were beaten on spot, dragged to police vehicles and badly beaten, there are no doubts the innocent Baloch will be victim of different kinds tortures and humiliations in prison cells, those are realities of occupation. Constable shot dead: Armed people gunned down a police constable, Mubarak Khan at the Bajrang police check post in Kalat, a police official told APP on phone.
