 Kidnapped lawyer’s body found from Mastung

QUETTA: A bullet-riddled dead body of a kidnapped lawyer Zaman Marri was found from Mastung on Monday. The chief justice of the Balochistan High Court had also taken suomotu notice of the kidnapping of Zaman Marri advocate and Munir Ahmed Mirwani advocate and asked the authorities concerned for their safe and early recovery. Marri’sbody was taken to Bolan Medical College Teaching Hospital for autopsy. The victim received a single bullet on the head that caused his instant death said the hospital sources, adding that the body bore marks of violence on the face and chest. Pakistan Navy has acquired close to 13,500 acres of land in Turbat and Dasht areas of Kech district in Balochistan’s Makran division to the distress of local landowners and the ire of Baloch political activists, the Herald reports.  60,000 flood victims suffering from epidemics in Balochistan
 QUETTA: Over 60,000 flood survivors in five districts of eastern Balochistan were suffering from epidemics, particularly gastroenteritis and malaria. Well-reputed sources in the Health Department told APP that the government had been apprised that over 60,000 flood-stricken people out of total 1.1 million in five districts of eastern Balochistan, including Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, Nasirabad, Sibi and Bolan, had been suffering from epidemics after consumption of contaminated floodwaters. According to official sources, a Levies official, identified as Masood Ahmed, was on his way home to Tump bazaar, when unidentified assailants on a motorbike opened fire on him, killing him instantly.  2 FC personnel killed in Khuzdar attack
 QUETTA: Two Frontier Corps personnel were shot dead in Khuzdar, 300 kilometres from the provincial metropolis on Friday.According to official sources, Behdozaman and Alam Shah were going to bazaar in civil dress in Khuzdar when unidentified people ridding a motorcycle sprayed them with bullets. Both security personnel died on the spot while the assailants fled from the scene. QUETTA: Two people were killed, while eight others injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a passenger bus carrying pilgrims in Pidrak area near Turbat on Thursday. According to reports, a passenger bus coming from Sindh was attacked near Pidrak area, a town close to Turbat city.  US to open consulate in Balochistan, says Patterson
 QUETTA: US Ambassador in Pakistan, Anne W Patterson has said that an American consulate will be set up in Quetta to oversee the development activities carried out by the Americans in Balochistan.
“The consulate will be set up to monitor the development activities being carried out by the US in Balochistan. It will also ensure a close liaison between the Baloch people and the US, and would provide visa facility to the people of Balochistan,” she said, while refuting the allegation that the consulate was intended to monitor activities in Iran and Afghanistan at a press conference here on Wednesday.

 Needs of Balochistan flood victims unmet: UNHCR
 QUETTA: The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative in Pakistan Mengesha Kebede on Tuesday drew attention to the plight of Balochistan’s flood survivors whose basic needs have not been met as yet. Kebede also complained that the mainstream media had largely forgotten about the flood victims in the province.
“The situation in Balochistan is worst; 1.2 million flood survivors are under shelters and half of them came from Sindh. The province was forgotten and the media did not play its role regarding the problems faced by survivors in Balochistan,” he observed.

 BNP-Mengal leader among 2 killed in Kalat
 QUETTA: Two people, including a Balochistan National Party- Mengal (BNP-M) leader, were shot dead in Kalat on Tuesday. According to sources, Kalat district BNP leader Nawabuddin Nechari and his friends Saffar Khan and Mullah Bakhsh were on their way on the national highway when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on their vehicle. As a result, two of them died on the spot while Mullah Bakhsh suffered multiple bullet injuries. QUETTA: A bullet-riddled body was found in Khuzdar on Thursday, some 350 kilometres from Quetta. According to security sources, the body was found from Bagh Bana area of Khuzdar and was brought to hospital for autopsy. The deceased has been identified as Tahir Muhammad. Sources said that unidentified people had kidnapped Tahir Muhammad from Koshak area of Khuzdar a few days ago. Marks on Tahir’s body indicate he was severely tortured before his death.
