Marble City opening next month

QUETTA: Marble City in Gadani has been set up and the first industrial unit there would come into operation next month and 92 plots have already been allotted.

Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani was told this during a briefing about development projects in the Lasbela Industrial Estate Development Authority (LIEDA) and the Provincial Industries Department on Friday.

He was informed that 40 sick industrial units had been revitalised and 103 industrial units were currently working under LIEDA in the province. He was told that a new industrial estate was also being set up near Uthal at a cost of Rs 100 million and the government had allotted 1,000 acres of land. Sources said the project to lay the gas pipeline from Hub to Winder would also be launched soon and would be completed within a year at a cost of Rs 551 million. Sources added that the federal and provincial governments, Sui Southern Gas Company and Industrialists would contribute to the project. About the schemes of the Industries Department, the governor was told that the first phase of the Quetta Industrial and Trading Estate had been completed. The 700-acre project would be completed in four phases and the government had allocated eight million rupees to it.
