ISLAMABAD (APP) - Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Saturday said that the government was conducting a survey to connect Gwadar with Quetta by rail besides improving the road network to enhance trade. Talking to a group of parliamentarians and ministers from Balochistan, Premier Shaukat Aziz said that the Federal government was giving top priority to the development of the province. He said that the govt had allocated unprecedented funds for the province to accelerate the pace of development and bring it at par with rest of the country.
SAFRON Minister Yar Muhammad Rind, Special Education Minister Zubaida Jalal and State Minister for Petroleum Senator Nasir Mengal, PML (Q) President Ch Shujaat Hussain and PML (Q) Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed were also present on the occasion. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Balochistan would soon develop with improved infrastructure, referring to the mega development projects like the Subakzai Dam, Merani Dam, Coastal Highway, Gwadar Deep Seaport and SAINDAK project. He termed these a significant milestone in the province.
The delegation felicitated the prime minister on a welfare-oriented and people-friendly budget and smooth passage by the Parliament. Shaukat Aziz underlined the need for proper implementation of the plans and utilisation of funds.
He also discussed matters relating to the forthcoming provincial budget, PSDP, local bodies elections and provincial administration. He complimented the PML delegation on wining the PA-Panjgoor bye-elections, saying that it reflected the confidence of the electorates in the government.
The prime minister urged the delegation to maintain party discipline, unity and contact with the masses at all levels. He said that the allocation of Rs 306b for the PSDP was an unparalleled feat in country’s history.
The meeting was informed that Ch Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain are likely to visit Quetta next week to listen to as well as discuss party matters in Balochistan. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that the PML government believed in taking its allies and coalition partners along in all important matters.
