QUETTA: The Balochistan government is implementing over 89 health schemes at a cost of Rs 590 million in the health sector, official sources said on Sunday.
According to sources, 42 schemes have been launched and the rest of the projects will begin soon and be completed by fiscal year 2005-06.The source said the health department had completed several mega projects, including the installation of MRI machine at Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta and an angiography machine along with accessories at the Bolan Medical Complex, Quetta. Both schemes cost Rs 230 million, sources added. The installation of CT Scan machine at a cost of Rs 45 million at BMC had also been completed, the source said.
Sources said the government will set up a Special Cardiac Unit at the Civil Hospital Quetta in addition to setting up a cardiac care units at Sibi, Khuzdar, Loralai, Zhob and Turbat. The source said a 50-bed hospital had also been proposed for Gawadar. The source said the government will establish new Basic Health Units (BHUs) in various districts of the province and upgrade the existing BHUs and Regional Health Centres.
